Money

1.

"In every life there is a moment. A crisis. One that says: what I believe is wrong. It happens to everyone, the only difference is how that knowledge changes them. In most cases, it is simply a case of burying that knowledge and pretending it isn’t there. That is how humans grow old. That is ultimately what creases their faces and curves their backs and shrinks their mouths and ambitions. The weight of that denial. The stress of it. This is not unique to humans. The single biggest act of bravery or madness anyone can do is the act of change." - Matt Haig

Health

1.

The heaviest weight in the gym is the front door.

Step one's to get through that door. To start.

A year from now, you'll wish that you had started today.

2.

Everybody has a starting point. No matter where anybody is in their journey, no matter how advanced they are now, they, too, had a point early on where they dreamed of a day where they’d be anything but a beginner.

3.

I get that everybody’s got different fitness goals and that’s cool. You do you. It makes me happy that anybody exercises.

That’s why if I were to ever start my own gym I’d called it Just Move-Something is better than nothing.

Yeah, that’s a shitty marketing slogan because humans tend to need specificity and direction when starting something new. But it’s a true slogan at least; especially for beginners.

Relationships

1.

Lead by example. Responding in kind to aggression doesn't do any good. Nothing that you can say will convince somebody that they're wrong. Instead, they have to be shown a better way and, when they’re ready, will follow. Leader’s don’t argue and leader’s don’t fight. Leaders set the pace.

A Few Good Quotes from a Great Book

“The chief personality characteristic of persons with hypertension [high blood pressure) is resentment,”

"Aristotle’s description of the ideal man—the man most worthy of being happy. “The ideal man,” said Aristotle, “takes joy in doing favours for others; but he feels ashamed to have others do favours for him."

"Don’t increase your headaches with your income."

-Dale Carnegie (from How to Stop Worrying and Start Living)

Jaden (two years old) is starting to really talk. Like, real words and phrases. It's amazing. I forgot what this period was like with Calvin. What a miracle. Kids are amazing.

My One Shirt

Most days, Unbound Merino makes up my entire wardrobe but what I really want to tell you about is my one shirt - the black v-neck.

First, it's made of merino wool which sits on my shoulders well and doesn't ever smell. Next, it's a plain colour t. No ugly logos.

No joke, I have 12 of them. It's all that I wear.

If you're looking for comfortable, moisture-wicking, good-lookin' shirts, Unbound Merino gets my highest recommendation. I've worn their clothing almost every day for four years.

Go to www.unboundmerino.com and to learn more and order some amazing clothing!

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored ad. I do not earn commission if you purchase any Unbound clothing. I am simply a big fan of the company.

I started to buy their clothes years ago. The owners have since became good friends and now send me the clothing for free.
