The Top Article of the Week
The Functional Movement Screening (FMS) has been a highly debated topic since its' creation, raising intense discussion about how effective it really is. As ever in the fitness industry we tend to either love or hate trends, with no middle ground, no grey area.
But we shouldn't. Following trends to the extreme can give us tunnel vision, allowing us to miss, ignore or avoid important information we should logically consider. The top coaches in our field are all evidence based, and commonly remind us that we need to keep an open mind if there is legitimate science behind any claim or approach.
This week's top article is a brilliant debate on the topic between Elsbeth Vaino and Bret Contreras, drawing on whether it is useful to become FMS certified, which populations would benefit from it and which wouldn't, as well as strengths and potential improvements.
